Ron Irving 600

Vale Ron Irving

Ron Irving played a huge role in establishing Parramatta Beekeepers, the 8th branch of now some 40 clubs of the ABA.

Sadly, Ron passed away on Sunday, 1 February 2026.

Parramatta Beekeepers began in 1984. Ron, already a keen beekeeper for four years, took the initiative to start a club for Parramatta and surrounding districts. On 5 June 1984, Parramatta Beekeepers was formed.

During his time with Parramatta Beekeepers, Ron served as President, Public Officer and Events Organiser. He also supported the ABA as Vice President and Secretary.

Among Ron’s many contributions to the Club and the ABA, he is especially remembered for his excellent mead and for generously sharing his mead-making know-how, with anyone keen to learn. He also had a real talent for practical solutions, eg, securing an ex-DMR trailer that became the Club’s “shop”. This was brought to field days so members could easily stock up on beekeeping gear.

We extend our sincere condolences to Ron’s family and friends and our thanks to Ron for everything he gave to the Club.

Ron’s funeral service was held on Friday, 6 February 2026.
