I would like to thank all of our contributors, for helping to make the new look, The Amateur Beekeeper, such a success. Without your insight, knowledge and willingness to share your beekeeping experience with all of our members, our magazine would not have the readership it currently enjoys.

We aim to provide practical help, scientific updates and general information about our members and clubs. Please forgive the hassling as I prompt you for contributions meeting deadlines, but rest assured your articles are valued and appreciated.

Of course, I am always on the look out for different perspectives in beekeeping. Unusual happenings in apiaries, please tell me about them. If you want answers to observations, we shall ask an expert and feed back any information we receive.

We do not know why the swarm season this year has lasted almost all the year. We do not know why the number of swarms has dramatically increased. We do not know why there has been observation of multiple queen cells. Isn’t beekeeping an interesting occupation – it throws up more questions than answers.

Answers on a post card please. Now I am showing my age!!!
