Hives for Heroes

Mentor and Board Member

Mentored Beekeeping is offered to Veterans, Emergency First Responders, active and ex-Military Member, who would like to learn more about keeping honey bees. Little or no prior experience is necessary as Mentors will support all of the initial beekeeping activities.

The goal is to provide a healthy alternative to managing trauma and mental health, alongside a re-connection with everyday experience. A supportive working environment is on offer, whilst learning about the fascinating world of honey bees.

Potential mentors are sought amongst beekeepers with 2-3 years’ experience.  This is a rewarding introduction for both mentors and new beekeepers. The other requirement is an access to honey bee hives. There is no specified time commitment – just time to guide new beekeepers, in normal beekeeping practices.

Hives for Heroes will provide Public Liability Insurance for Mentors and Members, through sponsorship.

Mentors and Members from all states are welcome to register their interest at http://www.hivesforheroes.au/contact
