Gold Coast Regional Beekeepers Inc, is appropriately named with members from Tweed Heads in the south to Brisbane in the North, and from Surfers Paradise in the east to beyond Beaudesert in the west, with the majority of our members living on the Gold Coast or in the Scenic Rim Shire. All visitors are always welcome at club meetings and events.
We are an active club that meets monthly. At each meeting members and visitors are involved in inspecting the clubs 5 hives as well as extracting any honey that is available. After we have extracted this raw honey it is donated to the Vietnam Veterans Men’s Shed to sell to raise much needed funds for them.
At our monthly meetings we use our apiary of 5 hives to teach members the correct beekeeping techniques including disease identification and control, the importance of biosecurity, as well how to build and maintain bee hives.
Most months we have at least two activities for members outside club meetings where they are encouraged to get involved in activities like disease and pest control, hive maintenance, extracting honey, World Bee day, the annual club honey competition, our honey purchase scheme, and much more
At each meeting members are provided with tea and coffee and a sausage sizzle and they also have an opportunity to buy tickets in our monthly raffle with member donated prizes. Each month members present at our meetings scan a QR code to go in the draw for a lucky door prize of a $40 voucher to bunnings as well as in the draw for six Christmas hams drawn at our December meeting.
We also run large raffles in May for World Bee day and in December for Christmas. We have already started to put together prizes for our 2026 Christmas raffle which will have more than $2,200 worth of prizes including a brand-new Flow hive valued at around $1,200, and a flow super lifter valued at $500 + more than $400 in other vouchers.
