In order to keep our magazine new and fresh, we are seeking stories and contributions, from outside our membership, as well as member reports. Tell us about your club or your beekeeping experiences. Photographs are always welcome.

We have compiled an index issue just for “Think Like A Bee” stories. Just go to the "Issues" tab. From now on, the top left issue will always be “Think Like A Bee”. All the TLAB stories will be gathered in one place so you can easily find the one you want.

We intend to do the same with Recipes, in the future. We need a lot more recipes for this search to work. You may have a great honey recipe, please share it with us all!

Swarm Special Feature in March Issue

We are going to have a swarm special feature in March. It's to look at the very odd swarm behavior seen in some locations in the last year.

We have already received some anecdotes about abnormal swarming. We would like to hear your experience of swarming. What is causing multiple swarms and queen cells. Colonies swarming repeatedly even after managed requeening. So far the record number of queen cells in a single brood box is 20. Have you counted more? One of our sources had cast swarms in mid June? When did you see the first new season swarm last year. What is causing these swarms and other absconding behaviours? We shall try to tackle that subject next month and we would like to hear your experience of swarming.

New Series of What's in Flower.

This issue has the first of a new series of “What’s in Flower?” Beekeepers love to know what forage is in bloom and how nutritious it is for our bees. It is a broad topic and with a large area of countryside to cover. We would welcome any photographs and an indication whether the source is good for pollen, nectar or both. Flowers, bark, leaves and seeds – please photograph them all.
